This month marks the 10th anniversary of the flourishing partnership between Red Door Community and Theatre Within, which over the past decade has provided over 1,500 workshops in creative expression and mindfulness for our members. It was in the fall of 2015 when Theatre Within knocked on our door offering the John Lennon Real Love Project (JLRLP) songwriting workshop. What began as an experimental 4-week series for teens has taken deep root in our community. In addition to the JLRLP, Theatre Within provides workshops in MAD Art, Cartooning As Self-Expression, Writing Memoir, The Joy of Smartphone Photography, Meditation for Radical Change, and more.

On October 8, Red Door Community will mark this milestone with a special concert for our members featuring John Lennon and Beatles music, taking place the night before what would have been Lennon’s 85th birthday. More than just a performance, it is a celebration of love, life, and perseverance – the very spirit that has guided our partnership with Theatre Within for the past decade.

Events like this one highlight the importance of building lasting partnerships that foster authentic connection and creativity. By cultivating relationships that grow and evolve over the years, we are able to strengthen our community and expand the ways we support those impacted by cancer. These collaborations remind us that together, we can create spaces of healing, expression, and resilience.
