In Memory of Laurie DiVita

In February 2019, the New York Triathlon (NYTRI) community lost one of their own, Laurie DiVita. Laurie lost her third battle with cancer and in honor of her, the NYTRI launched the Annual Laurie DiVita Memorial Cross Bay Duathlon.

Laurie was an inspiration both in the sport she loved and also in the unique community she found at Red Door Community. Over the past decade, she was diagnosed with and overcame ovarian cancer twice. She also became a 2X Ironman and Rode Across America with LiveStrong. She volunteered at Red Door Community, finding comfort and joy in the community of cancer patients, caregivers, and loved ones, who could completely relate to what she and her family were going through. Laurie was a true inspiration to everyone she met and to anyone that heard or witnessed her story.

The 2nd Annual Laurie DiVita Memorial Cross Bay Duathlon will take place on Sunday, April 26.

Laurie’s family and friends have asked for donations to be made in memory of her to Red Door Community.
