The lifeblood of any nonprofit is the generosity of the people who believe in its mission. At Red Door Community, our mission is to ensure that nobody faces cancer alone.  When a mission resonates, often driven by a personal connection or a simple recognition of need and a desire to help, people like to take action. Our Gala, which will be held on November 4th, at Tribeca Rooftop in NYC, is our signature fundraising event each year, and we welcome all the action we can get!

The Gala allows us to not only fundraise, but to build relationships, celebrate important work, and acknowledge individuals, organizations and companies that make a difference. This year, Red Door Community will be celebrating 30 years of service, and we will be recognizing Dennis Purcell, Founder of Aisling Capital, for his contributions to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. He is a long-time investor in the innovations that advance improvements in the patient experience. Dennis’s work reminds us that progress in science is ultimately about compassion, healing, and hope, values that stand at the very heart of Red Door Community.

The words “Beyond the Red Door” are included in the Gala’s name because our community consists of more than our members alone, who may have literally walked through our red door to find their place of comfort. Of course, our members are at the heart of everything we do, but our community also includes the professionals who lead our support groups and workshops, our volunteers, our staff, our partners, our Board of Directors, and the people who promote our work. And yes, of course, our donors.

When it comes to hosting a fundraising Gala, it takes the entire community to make it a success. Our Gala Committee is a collection of people who have come together with the common goal of introducing Red Door Community to their networks.  This spreads awareness of the important work we do and opens the door for their support. The Gala Committee is the backbone of this event, and I want to recognize the 19 selfless people who have raised their hand to contribute their time, money and leadership.  We can’t thank them enough. Each Committee member has their own reason for getting involved, and they have a personal web page where they explain their motivation. I encourage you to read through them and see how lucky we are to have them on board.

If our mission resonates with you, I hope you will join us in person, or support us from afar. Either way, our community welcomes you.
