An Exciting Announcement: Our New Name

Today Gilda’s Club New York City has evolved to become Red Door Community. Please see the official announcement letter from our leadership below and view our press release HERE.

Dear Friends,

We are excited to announce today Gilda’s Club New York City has evolved to become Red Door Community to provide free cancer support to everyone and anyone, in more places, and in more ways than ever before.

Our new name, Red Door Community, reflects the experience and knowledge we have gained over the past 25 years providing unwavering cancer support to thousands of cancer patients and their families. Since we first opened our Red Door in 1995, our West Village townhouse has been a symbol of hope, inspiration and community for men, women, teens and children impacted by cancer. During the pandemic, we successfully transitioned our robust in-person support program to a virtual one and increased our level of participation by 55%. What we learned these past 18 months is being applied moving forward to ensure Red Door Community will always be a place where no one faces cancer alone. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.

While our name has changed, our free cancer support program has remained the same and we will continue to support, educate and empower individuals living with cancer in the spirit of our namesake, Gilda Radner. Her spirit, humor and courage will always be an integral part of who we are.

We invite you to read our announcement. For more information, please go to our new website at www.reddoorcommunity.org.

Thank you so much for being part of our valued community and a supporter of our mission.

Warm regards,

Lily Safani
