Family Support
A cancer diagnosis impacts more than the patient, it affects family and friends of the patient too. At Red Door Community we offer support for the entire family and support network of a cancer patient. Support for families, caregivers and loved ones is critical with any cancer experience and can help patients and their families and friends:
- Communicate clearly with your health care team
- Talk with family and friends and adjust to changes
- Find resources and help you deal with changes to your work, career, and finances
- Make important decisions
- Consider what comes after you or your loved one finish treatment
Support Circle
From the moment of cancer diagnosis, family and friends are impacted. Your loved ones have concerns – but just what are they? How to handle them? Red Door Community invites you to bring together your network to create a Support Circle – to focus on utilizing your strengths and making life with cancer work for everyone. All Support Circle sessions are facilitated by licensed mental health professionals.
Individual Counseling Support Program for Parents and Guardians
This program provides up to six individual counseling sessions for parents/guardians who are living with a cancer diagnosis, caring for a loved one diagnosed with cancer, or grieving the loss of a loved one. These sessions will give you an opportunity to speak with a certified specialist regarding how best to understand and work with your child/children during this challenging time. Please contact Erin Baumann LMSW, MSL to learn more!
Red Door Community es amor, ayuda y compasión. Estoy muy orgulloso y feliz de ser miembro de esta comunidad especial.
Red Door Community is a family to us, definitely. It has filled, in some ways, the hole that my husband’s passing created in our lives. We never miss a group or event – we are here rain or shine.
Once you open the Red Door you know that there are so many people like you, and it makes you feel happy … I mean, it’s crazy!
Red Door Community is so important to me because after I got cancer, I learned to love again, I learned to support again, and I learned to live again.
Red Door Community is so important to me because after I got cancer, I learned to love again, I learned to support again, and I learned to live again.
Having an organization like this where the door is open, you see this Red Door and you come in and you are embraced and … immediately encouraged and your heart just smiles and knowing that you don’t have to go to find the money to be able to access such invaluable activities and programs.
If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer, Red Door Community is here for you.
Our support program includes support groups, educational lectures, healthy lifestyle programs, and social events. For all those impacted by cancer and always 100% free of charge.
