Tim Pernetti is Commissioner of the American Athletic Conference.
From 2020-2024, Pernetti was President of IMG Academy. He played a key role in the sale of IMG Academy to EQT for $1.25B. He negotiated the agreement to host the 2020 WNBA COVID season at IMG.
Prior to IMG Academy, Pernetti served in leadership at Endeavor and IMG as Executive Vice President, IMG Events, and President, IMG College. He led IMG College through its historic merger with Learfield. From 2013-2015, as Chief Business Officer, Pernetti launched MLS club New York City FC, co-owned by Manchester City and the New York Yankees.

Pernetti was Athletic Director at Rutgers from 2009-2013. Pernetti most notably led the historic agreement for Rutgers to join the Big Ten.

From 1995-2009 he held executive positions in Programming at ABC Sports, and CSTV which was purchased by CBS Sports for $325M.

Pernetti is a Board member at Reed Academy, a school for children on the autistic spectrum and MYOS, a company producing natural supplements to improve longevity and muscle growth in animals.

Pernetti earned multiple degrees from Rutgers and was a four-year letter-winner in football. He received the Sports Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 award in 2008.
