On Tuesday, February 11th, we held our annual Red Door Society Reception to recognize and thank outstanding donors from the previous year. Gifts of $2,500 or more qualify donors for the Red Door Society, and this year we were thrilled to welcome 50 new Red Door Society members with personalized plaques on our donor wall at our West Village Clubhouse.
Guests were welcomed this year with opening remarks from Lily Safani, CEO, and William S. Slattery, Chair of the Board of Directors. We were delighted to have former Gilda’s Club member and Board Member, Robert DeBitetto, share his moving personal story of the unique community he found at Gilda’s Club. Special guest, Alan Zweibel, author and playwright, regaled the audience with his fondest memories of his pal Gilda Radner and how important her legacy of Gilda’s Club is.
This was a special evening of thanks to our donors and supporters and also marked the official kick off to our 25th Anniversary year. Our iconic red door at 195 West Houston Street has been open to cancer patients and their families since 1995. As we reflect on our 25 year history, Gilda’s Club NYC’s vision for the future will sustain Gilda’s Legacy of free cancer support for many years to come thanks to our generous donors.
