Tatiana Schlossberg’s deeply personal essay, A Battle with My Blood, about her cancer diagnosis and her concern over the cuts to cancer research resonates with all of us at Red Door Community.

Her words highlight not only the profound vulnerability that accompanies a cancer diagnosis, but also the urgent need to protect and strengthen the scientific, emotional, and community-based support that patients and families rely upon.

At Red Door Community, we see every day how vital it is for people facing cancer to have access to comprehensive cancer care – medical, emotional, and social. Tatiana’s reflections underscore what our members already know: cancer does not wait for national priorities to shift, nor do the needs of patients diminish when resources become scarce.

Continued investment in cancer research, treatment advances, and supportive programming is not optional; it is lifesaving.

We are grateful for Tatiana’s courage in using her voice to elevate this critical issue. Her essay is a powerful reminder that behind every statistic is a human navigating fear, uncertainty, and the need for connection. Red Door Community remains committed in our mission to ensure that no one faces cancer alone, and we will continue advocating for the support that every individual deserves.

Our community stands with Tatiana, and with every person affected by cancer, committed to providing a place of understanding, acceptance, and hope.
