As we get closer to the end of summer, it can be easy to get caught up in “what’s next”, between back-to-school schedules, work ramping up, and the upcoming holiday season. But this seasonal shift can also be a moment for reflection, especially for those affected by cancer – whether you’re in treatment, post-treatment, or supporting a loved one living with cancer.
At Red Door Community, we often remind our members that self-care doesn’t have to be a big ordeal to be meaningful. Sometimes, it’s about giving yourself permission to rest, say no, or simply enjoy a quiet moment during the last days of summer.
Here are a few gentle ways to relax and reflect at the end of this August.
- Take inventory of how you’re feeling. Physically and emotionally, without judgment.
- Create a simple ritual. Light a candle, write down one thing you’re grateful for, or listen to music that soothes you.
- Reconnect with your people. Whether it’s a support group or a friend, connection can be healing!
You are not alone in this season, or any season. We’re here, and so is the rest of our community.
