On November 3, we will bring our community together for an evening celebrating the strength, resilience, and courage of the people we serve. At the heart of this year’s Gala are three remarkable women who know firsthand the power of humor and showing up for others in the face of hard times: Saranne Rothberg, Dena Blizzard, and Missy Hall.
Saranne Rothberg is a globally recognized healthcare thought leader, AI innovator, and comedy expert. A stage IV survivor, Saranne founded ComedyCures.org in 1999 from her chemo chair during her first treatment while throwing a “Chemo Comedy Party” for all at her infusion center. Host of the “Beating Cancer Daily” podcast, Saranne has produced 440+ bite-sized episodes helping patients, survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in 151 countries, 7 days a week.
This year, Red Door Community will honor Saranne with the Community Spotlight Award, recognizing her extraordinary commitment to making sure no one faces cancer alone.
Dena Blizzard, comedian, writer, speaker, and creator of “One Funny Mother”, will host the evening as the emcee. A longtime friend and collaborator of Saranne, they have spent two decades bringing laughter to patients, survivors, and caregivers, together.
Dena will bring her signature humor and energy to the night, representing an experience that is deeply human: finding strength and connection in the company of others.
Cancer survivor, comedian, writer, speaker, and proudly known as the “Queen of Happy Things,” Missy Hall will bring her own unique energy to the Gala as a featured speaker, who will present the Community Spotlight Award to Saranne.
Missy is a recurring guest on Saranne’s “Beating Cancer Daily” podcast, where she shares her cancer journey, laughter, and perspective with listeners across the globe.
Together, Saranne, Dena, and Missy embody a key value that is at the very core of Red Door Community’s mission. The simple power of connection and knowing that you don’t have to be alone in difficult times. Their stories, humor, and friendship are a beautiful reflection of what this Gala celebrates.
Join us November 3 for an unforgettable evening of community, laughter, inspiration, and support as we work together to ensure our Red Door remains open for anyone affected by cancer.
