What a great day! 100 holes of golf, $63,000 raised, great company and great causes.
That’s just a brief summary of Red Door Community’s experience at the Annual Golf Fights Cancer Golf Marathon. On June 4th, team RDC traveled to the Juniper Hills Golf Course in Northborough, Massachusetts to attack this wonderful and worthwhile challenge. It was sunny and warm and the 36-hole course was bustling with golfers who all chipped in to raise more than $1 Million this year across a variety of cancer-related organizations.
We cannot thank our supporters enough. 500 people supported Red Door Community through our team members; John Cooney, Tom Beusse, Omer Jilani and Dan Latore, RDC’s CEO and most challenged golfer. It’s a good thing that the score was an afterthought, and that the more than eight hours on the course were dedicated to completing the task at hand and not ego stroking. There were plenty of laughs and quite a few balls donated to the woods, water and other parts still unknown.
Red Door Community played in this event in 2025, and raised $30,000, so a doubling of support is both impressive and appreciated. Many of the people who donated had not previously heard of Red Door Community, and now they know. Each of their generous gifts was matched with and awareness of our mission to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. So, they and their families have access to a resource should they need it, and many people do.
Throughout the day on the course, team RDC remembered people that we’ve lost to cancer and those who are experiencing it right now. The day was about them, and every blister, cramp and ache was gladly accepted as a small sacrifice in an effort to help our community.
Thank you to everyone who contributed so far, and the link is still open if anyone would like to help push us over the $65,000 mark to cap off this great initiative.
PS-Did we mention the shirts? They were a hit!
