This past weekend, actress and advocate Olivia Munn shared her powerful and deeply personal story during a special edition of Meet the Press, speaking candidly about her breast cancer journey. Her words resonated with the work we do and the members we serve here at Red Door Community.

In her interview, Olivia bravely opened up about the emotional rollercoaster of her diagnosis, her decision to keep her treatment private, and the crucial role a lifetime risk assessment played in catching her cancer – despite receiving a negative mammogram. One line in particular struck a chord:

“How many women are walking around with a negative mammogram without knowing about the lifetime risk assessment?”

It’s a question we can’t afford to ignore. Our own Migdalia Torres, Executive Director of Program at Red Door Community, felt moved to respond. In the short video commentary above, Migdalia reflects on Olivia’s story through the lens of her decades of work supporting individuals affected by cancer.

At Red Door Community, we know that cancer impacts more than just the body – it affects the whole person. That’s why we offer free, comprehensive support for anyone impacted by cancer, no matter where they are in their journey. Stories like Olivia’s, and the voices of leaders like Migdalia, help us advocate for earlier detection, smarter screenings, and compassionate care for all.

If you are interested, we encourage you to watch Olivia Munn’s full interview here, and join the conversation about how we can transform awareness into action.
