On Friday, July 17, Red Door Community partnered with WWE to bring joy, creativity, and connection to children and families impacted by cancer.
Through WWE’s Community Champions program, participants spent meaningful time with WWE Superstars Joe Hendry and Jacob Fatu during a special cartooning workshop. Longtime Red Door Community MAD Art workshop leader and former MAD Magazine artist, Sam Viviano, led the experience bringing the wrestlers’ vibrant personalities to life through caricatures and encouraging our budding artists to express their own creativity.
Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. also joined the fun and spoke about plans for a new cancer center in Queens. The day concluded with another exciting moment when one young participant won tickets to WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden!
Ahead of the event, PEOPLE featured Joe Hendry and his commitment to supporting children and families impacted by cancer, bringing Red Door Community’s mission to millions of readers. The New York Post also attended and shared highlights from the workshop, capturing our mission in action and the joy that filled the room.
